Tooele County News

From the June 6 1947 issue:

This is your first copy of the Tooele County Chronicle which we hope meets with your favor and will be to your liking. It will be published weekly and should be in Tooele City in midafternoon Thursday. Grantsville should receive theirs about 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Wendover late Thursday night. ... We (the Beckwith's) have owned and operated the Chronicle at Delta, Utah, since January 1919. During that time we have built up what we consider a good paper and one that stands second in the state of Utah for circulation per capita. ... We have been asked repeatedly if Tooele County is large enough for two papers and our answer is that it is ... [t]wo papers will be better than one because both publishers must keep up on their toes to put out their papers ...

The Tooele County Chronicle is owned by Frank S. Beckwith. There are no other owners, silent partners, stockholders or anyone with any interest in the venture other than Mr. Beckwith. He has been and will also remain the manager of the Delta paper, where he has been managing that paper for the past twenty years. Mrs. Athena Beckwith Cook will be the managing editor of the Tooele County Chronicle, with a small office in the Ken Bates Appliance store.
