This collection holds the following newspapers published in Piute County:
- Marysvale Free Lance Marysvale Sep 1902 - Jul 1904.
- Piute Chieftain Marysvale Apr 1916 - Mar 1919.
- Piute County News Junction Oct 1924 - Feb 1949.
Josiah Gibbs, publisher of the Free Lance, wrote in the first issue, "This issue of the Free Lance will find its way if possible, into the home of every family in Piute County, and a large number in Wayne County. It will be sent to you for a month, and if in the meantime, you don't want it, just send a post card, and that one cent will be all this paper will cost you to October 1."
